Responsible Data Collection
Shield Scraper exists to make legitimate public-web data collection reliable. This page explains how we think about it and what we expect from customers.
Last updated 26 September 2026
§1What Shield Scraper is for
The platform is built for structured collection of publicly available data, for example:
- Price and promotion monitoring on public product pages
- Stock and availability tracking
- Product catalog aggregation
- Regional price and availability comparison
- Competitor monitoring and market research
- Change detection on public web pages
§2Our position on legality
Whether a specific scraping activity is lawful or permitted depends on the data being collected, the source, how it is used, and the jurisdiction. We do not claim that every scraping use case is automatically legal or compliant, and using Shield Scraper does not make it so.
Customers are expected to comply with applicable laws, their contractual obligations, and the relevant policies of the websites they collect from.
§3What we expect from customers
- Collect public information only. Do not use the platform to access private, authenticated, or restricted information without authorization.
- Avoid sensitive personal data. Do not use the platform to collect it unlawfully.
- Keep request rates reasonable and do not disrupt the sites you collect from.
- Tell us the truth about your use case when we ask.
§4How we enforce it
Our Acceptable Use Policy prohibits credential theft, account compromise, fraud, fake traffic, spam, DDoS, and other malicious activity. We can identify customers, review request logs, monitor usage, restrict domains and rates, rotate or revoke credentials, suspend individual customers, and restrict problematic targets.
§5If you have a concern
Website operators, infrastructure providers, and anyone else affected can reach us through Report Abuse.
